Does Your Wedding Photographer Make The Grade?

Does Your Wedding Photographer Make The Grade?

These are the photographs that will hang on the wall of your home and mark the best day of your life and it is up to you to make sure that they are the best they could possibly be.

Here are a few questions to ask when meeting potential wedding photographers that may help make your choice just a little bit easier.

  1. Can we see examples of work you have done on previous weddings?  Not only do you need to know that the photographer has had the necessary experience (and won’t mess up on your wedding day), but it is important to see the photographer’s style too. Just because a photographer is good, it doesn’t necessarily mean that his/her style is what you are looking for.

  2. Do you have any suggestions for pre- and post-ceremony shoot locations? Great photographers often know of amazing and unique locations for the perfect shoot.

  3.  What is your back up plan for rainy days?  You want to know that if it rains, you can rely on your photographer to have a plan up his/her sleeve.

  4. Does the price include an album? Can we choose what photographs go in the album? Will we get all of the photographs taken on the day or only some? It is important to know what you are getting for your money.

  5. If you are getting a package deal ask what the extras cost. Family photos or an extra shot with someone special may not be included in the package fee, find out what the extra costs are beforehand so that you don’t have any surprises later on.

  6. Have you photographed a wedding at our specific venue before? And, are you prepared to adhere to the rules set by the venue or those conducting the service, such as no flash photography in the chapel etc.

  7. What are your payment terms? This will just help you budget.
